Bingo Tips and Strategies

August 24th, 2010

Bingo is one of the most popular games in the world. With the explosive growth of online bingo, the popularity of the game is growing more rapidly than ever. The attraction of bingo is attributable to a number of aspects, the most important of which include its inherently social nature, substantial jackpots and sheer ease of play.

Although bingo is essentially a simple game to play, there are a number of tips that can help in increasing the chance of winning. In gaining greater knowledge of the different types of bingo, together with tips, techniques and strategies, players can significantly increase their success in the game.

There are many different variants of online bingo. It is important that players know the difference between them in order to play effectively. One of the most popular bingo games is termed `cover all`. Here, players will have to get all of the numbers on their bingo card in order to win. This version of bingo is simple to play, however play usually takes longer than in other forms of the game. When playing cover all bingo, the best approach is to purchase one ticket. There is usually little benefit in purchasing multiple tickets. This game typically offers a higher jackpot than other variants, so if it is big money you are after, look for cover all games. However, it is worth remembering that if the jackpot has not been hit by the 41st ball, the winnings will usually be greatly reduced.

Other bingo games require that you get five numbers in a row. You can do this horizontally, vertically or diagonally and the game is, thus, often referred to as a form of pattern bingo. There are many different ways of winning in this form of bingo and consequently, cash prizes are usually far smaller. However, the games are fun and quick and are often the best type to play socially.

Another popular pattern bingo variation is Diamond. Here, players must mark off numbers in the shape of a diamond on their bingo cards. These games, again, tend to be fairly quick so here it is advisable to make sure that you have purchased a number of bingo cards to increase your chances of winning. Another fast pattern bingo game in which it is worthwhile purchasing multiple tickets is Four Corners where, as the name suggests, just the numbers on each of the four corners need to be marked.

Finally, Cross and Winners circle are further forms of pattern bingo. With cross you will need to get numbers in a cross formation from one side of the card to the other. Winners circle requires all of the numbers in both B and O, plus the first and last numbers in I, G and N. Make sure you look out for all of the free bingo bonuses you can get. There are many other pattern and game variants, together with different approaches to accumulating the jackpots.

In addition to understanding the types of bingo games and different strategies, it is important to pick the best sites at which to play bingo online. Look out for those that regularly offer free bingo. This is a great way to really understand and practice the game as well as providing some free fun and the chance to win a prize. The best sites will also offer regular promotions. Some sites offer you the chance to boost some or all of the cash you deposit in the form of matching bonuses. Other sites have regular promotions, for example, buy one get one free tickets. Find out from online reviews and ask friends about the best sites.

Finally, consider when you play as there will be a balance between game time, size of jackpot and number of players which can make a significant difference to potential winnings. In all cases, remember to play responsibly and never to stake more than you can comfortably afford to lose.

Go with Evander Holyfield at Poker in the Park

July 30th, 2010

Knocking out a world heavyweight boxing champion would certainly be something to tell the grandchildren. The knock out would of course be in poker rather than boxing but would be an impressive feat nevertheless. RealDealPoker.com is running a series of online qualifiers which will culminate in a heavyweight poker final against the champ at London’s Poker in the Park Festival on 2nd September.

Qualifiers for the €100+€9 Heavyweight final will meet at 8pm UK time on Sunday 22nd August with the winner of the this final round going on to meet Holyfield heads up in the Real Deal Poker’s ‘Beat The Champ’, ‘LIVE’* at Leicester Square. Satellites start from just €1.60. The Heavyweight Final will have a standard payout structure and Real Deal Poker will match the first place prize money. The winner of the heads up match will receive 75% of the total prize purse.

“I’ve played a lot of poker growing up, but not much at this competitive level,” Holyfield commented. “Just like boxing, I will have to train for this fight, just a little differently. Poker is a more of a mental game, and I will be focused, ready and down to my fighting weight for this match.”

Current WBF champion Holyfield will be promoting RealDealPoker.com’s revolutionary new software which uses real cards rather than random number generators to create hands.

The fourth annual Poker in the Park takes place in London’s Leicester Square on 2nd and 3rd September and promises to be one of the highlights of the London Poker Festival. The free extravaganza offers a host of poker related action including lectures and tutorials from top pros, non-stop tournament action as well as the chance to meet some of the biggest names in the world of poker.

Odds abound on Formula One title

July 28th, 2010

With eight of the 19 races remaining in the 2010 Formula One calendar, it would appear that the race for the Drivers’ Championship title is now between McLaren Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel from Red Bulls Racing.

Although Hamilton was only able to finish in fourth spot at last weekend’s German Grand Prix from Hockenheim, he still leads the Championship with 157 points and SkyBet.com and ExtraBet.com list odds of 13/8 that the 25-year-old will have won his second title come November 14.

Slightly longer, Ladbrokes.com has Hamilton at odds of 7/4 to hold off a late challenge and win the individual honour while Coral.co.uk shows 15/8 followed by VictorChandler.com, WilliamHill.com, BetFred.com, BlueSq.com, 888Sport.com and PaddyPower.com with 2/1.

Despite only having won two races so far this season, Hamilton has only finished out of the points once and leads his teammate and closest rival Jenson Button by 14 points. BetDaq.com has the 2008 title holder at odds of 109/50 to win the 2010 crown while bet365.com, BoyleSports.com and StanJames.com show 9/4.

The next race in the Formula One calendar is Budapest this weekend and Hamilton should be among the favourites after winning the event in 2007 and 2009. Betfair.com and WBX.com are offering odds of 57/25 on the Englishman winning the Driver’s Championship this season while punters can get 23/10 from Bwin.com.

Despite taking pole-position six times already this season, 23-year-old Sebastian Vettel has only won two races and sits in joint third spot in the Driver’s Championship with 136 points alongside teammate Mark Webber.

The German is being offered at odds of 9/5 by WBX.com to win his first Driver’s Championship this season while PaddyPower.com shows 15/8.

This is Vettel’s third full season in Formula One and much is expected after he finished in second place last time out behind Button with BetFred.com, SkyBet.com and StanJames.com showing odds of 2/1 on the individual honour coming his way this year.

Longer, odds of 85/40 are available from VictorChandler.com on Vettel winning the 2010 Driver’s Championship while Bwin.com shows 11/5 ahead of WilliamHill.com, Bet365.com, Coral.co.uk, BoyleSports.com and ExtraBet.com with 9/4.

At the far end of the spectrum are BetDaq.com and Betfair.com showing odds of 119/50 on Vettel winning the individual honour followed by Ladbrokes.com, 888Sport.com and BlueSq.com offering 5/2.

Robbie Williams and Take That Stars into Poker

July 27th, 2010

He may be part of one of the most famous boy bands in the history of pop music, but that doesn’t mean the poker craze has past by Take That star Jason Orange. The singer is reportedly obsessed with poker, along with his four brothers, and plays the game at every opportunity. So enthusiastic about the game is Jason that a giant 3ft poker table cake was created for his 40th birthday. The poker mad singer hosted a party last weekend at Manchester’s Great John Street hotel and was presented with the comic cake, complete with miniature players, cards and poker chips. Amongst the revellers keen to sample a slice of the gambling themed cake were Jason’s band mates, including Robbie Williams.

In recent times more and more celebrities have become interested in poker. Indeed, the likes of Shane Warne, Audley Harrison, Evander Holyfield and Shannon Elizabeth were all present at this year’s World Series of Poker. The mass appeal of the game is a testament to its excitement, diversity and accessibility. With more and more people taking up the game than ever, moreover, with governments finally realising the games potential, the future is looking bright for the most popular card game in the world.
